Terms and Conditions for Carpet Cleaners Hackney
These Terms and Conditions set out the basis on which carpet cleaning services are supplied in the UK. They apply to domestic and commercial customers who book a carpet cleaning service, upholstery cleaning, rug cleaning, stain treatment, deodorising, and related care services. By making a booking, the customer confirms that they have read, understood, and accepted these terms. These conditions are intended to be clear, fair, and consistent with standard UK consumer and business practices. They should be read carefully before any appointment is confirmed.
For the purposes of these terms, the words “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to the service provider operating as Carpet Cleaners Hackney, and “you” or “the customer” refers to the person or business requesting the service. References to carpet cleaning service include any associated work agreed at the time of booking. If there is any inconsistency between a written quotation and these terms, the written quotation will prevail only in relation to the specific matter stated in that quotation.
We reserve the right to update these terms from time to time. Any changes will apply to future bookings and, where appropriate, to ongoing services where legal and reasonable notice has been given. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights under UK law.
1. Booking Process
Bookings may be made by telephone, email, online form, or any other communication method we make available from time to time. When you request a booking, you must provide accurate information about the property, the items to be cleaned, access conditions, parking limitations, special stains, existing damage, drying expectations, and any other relevant detail. If information is incomplete or incorrect, the quote, attendance time, or scope of work may need to be adjusted.
Any quotation given before inspection is based on the information supplied by you and is not an absolute fixed price unless expressly stated. A quote for Hackney carpet cleaners services may change if the actual condition, size, or fabric type differs from what was described. We may refuse or revise a booking if the requested work is unsafe, beyond our capability, or unsuitable for the materials involved.
Bookings are only confirmed when we have accepted the request and provided a confirmation, whether verbal or written. The confirmed appointment date and time are given in good faith, but arrival windows may be affected by travel conditions, job overrun, weather, traffic, or unexpected operational issues. We will aim to notify you of any significant delay as soon as reasonably possible.
2. Service Scope and Customer Responsibilities
The service covers cleaning processes that are appropriate to the material, condition, and level of soiling. Methods may include vacuuming, pre-treatment, hot water extraction, low-moisture cleaning, stain spotting, or deodorising where appropriate. We decide the cleaning method unless a specific method is agreed in advance and is technically suitable. Results depend on the age, fibre type, wear, previous treatment, and condition of the item or surface.
You must ensure that the work area is reasonably accessible and safe. This includes moving breakable items, securing pets, ensuring access to water and electricity where required, and informing us of any hazards. Unless agreed otherwise, it is the customer’s responsibility to move light furniture, valuables, and delicate items before the appointment. We may assist with moving items at our discretion, but we are not obliged to move heavy, fixed, or fragile furniture.
If carpets or fabrics have hidden damage, weak backing, dye instability, permanent staining, or prior contamination, cleaning may not restore them to an original appearance. We do not guarantee the removal of all stains, odours, or wear marks. Natural fibre carpets, wool, antique rugs, and delicate fabrics may require special handling and may carry a greater risk of colour change or fibre distortion. The customer accepts these risks when work is approved on such items.
3. Payments and Charges
Prices are usually based on the size of the area, type of item, level of soiling, access, and any additional treatment required. A quoted price may exclude optional extras, parking fees, congestion or access charges, specialist chemicals, or work that falls outside the original scope. If additional work is needed on site, we will normally obtain approval before proceeding, unless the extra work is necessary to complete the agreed service safely or to address an obvious issue discovered during the appointment.
Payment is due in full on completion of the service unless a different arrangement has been agreed in writing in advance. We may accept payment by card, bank transfer, cash, or another method stated at the time of booking. For business customers, credit terms must be expressly agreed and will otherwise not apply. Any invoice must be paid by the date stated. Late payment may result in administration charges, interest, and recovery action where permitted by law.
Discounts, promotional rates, or special offers are only valid for the period and conditions stated. They cannot usually be combined unless specifically allowed. If a deposit is required, it will be explained at the time of booking and may be non-refundable where the booking has been reserved and costs have been incurred. All prices are stated in pounds sterling unless otherwise specified.
4. Cancellations, Rescheduling, and Missed Appointments
You may cancel or reschedule a booking by giving reasonable notice. Unless stated otherwise in your quotation or booking confirmation, cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice may incur a cancellation charge to reflect lost time and reserved staffing. If we arrive at the property and are unable to carry out the work because access is unavailable, the property is unsuitable, or the customer is absent without notice, a call-out or wasted-journey charge may apply.
Where a deposit has been paid, it may be retained in full or in part if cancellation occurs after preparation has begun or where third-party costs have already been incurred. We will act reasonably when applying any cancellation fee and will consider the circumstances of the booking. If we need to cancel or reschedule, we will seek to provide as much notice as possible and offer an alternative appointment where feasible.
We are not responsible for indirect losses caused by a cancellation or delay, including lost earnings, loss of use, or inconvenience, except where such loss arises from our negligence or breach of statutory duty and liability cannot lawfully be excluded. Customers are encouraged not to arrange dependent events or sensitive deadlines without allowing sufficient flexibility.
5. Liability and Limitations
We will carry out our work with reasonable care and skill. If we damage property through proven negligence, our liability will be limited, at our option, to repairing the damage, replacing the affected item, or paying reasonable compensation up to the cost of the relevant service, unless a greater liability applies under law. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under UK law.
We are not liable for pre-existing damage, hidden defects, wear and tear, fading, colour loss, shrinkage, loose stitching, seam failure, weak adhesive, or deterioration caused by age or prior treatment. If you ask us to clean an item with known vulnerability, you do so at your own risk unless we have expressly guaranteed a result in writing. We cannot be responsible for damage caused by incorrect information given by the customer, including undisclosed stains, chemical residues, leaks, infestations, or damp conditions.
Although our technicians use appropriate methods and products, some surfaces may react unpredictably. This includes colour bleed, watermarking, pile distortion, or odour reappearance if contamination has penetrated underlay or subfloor materials. Where a customer asks for a particular treatment against our advice, we may refuse. If we proceed only after informed consent, the customer accepts the associated risk.
6. Waste Regulations and Environmental Compliance
All waste generated during the service, including used cloths, packaging, extracted solution, contaminated residue, and disposable materials, will be handled in accordance with applicable UK waste laws and environmental obligations. We aim to reduce waste, segregate materials where possible, and use responsible disposal methods. If specialist disposal is required because of contamination, biological waste, or unusual debris, additional charges may apply.
Customers must inform us before booking if there is any risk of hazardous contamination, such as bodily fluids, severe mould, chemical spills, pest activity, or other regulated waste. We are not obliged to carry out work on contaminated premises unless we have the right equipment, training, and disposal arrangements. Where work involves regulated waste, you may be required to confirm in writing that the area is safe for cleaning and that any relevant occupier responsibilities have been met.
Where the cleaning process produces wastewater, residue, or removed material, we will dispose of it responsibly. We will not knowingly discharge substances in a manner that breaches environmental rules or local restrictions. If the customer asks us to dispose of items beyond the ordinary cleaning waste stream, this must be agreed in advance and may require separate collection or disposal arrangements.
7. Access, Delays, and Site Conditions
To complete a carpet cleaning service efficiently, the customer must provide clear access to the property and ensure that the area is ready for treatment. If we are unable to enter the property at the agreed time, the appointment may be treated as a missed visit. If lift access, parking, or entrance arrangements are restricted, the customer must notify us beforehand so that suitable planning can take place.
We are not responsible for delays caused by factors beyond our control, including severe weather, traffic disruption, road closures, equipment failure, supply shortages, or circumstances affecting staff safety. If a delay becomes significant, we will try to reschedule or complete the work later the same day where possible. Any new appointment will be offered subject to availability.
You agree to provide a working environment that is reasonably free from avoidable risk. This includes disclosing any structural damage, electrical faults, unstable flooring, water leaks, or health concerns. We may stop work if conditions are unsafe, unsanitary, or likely to cause damage. In such cases, charges may still apply for the time spent attending the property.
8. Complaints, Reattendance, and Aftercare
If you are dissatisfied with the service, you should notify us within a reasonable time after completion and before taking any remedial steps that could alter the cleaned area. We may request photographs, a description of the issue, or an opportunity to inspect the affected area. This helps us assess whether the concern relates to workmanship, material limitations, pre-existing conditions, or normal drying and settlement.
If the complaint is valid and the issue is attributable to our work, we may offer a re-clean, touch-up, partial refund, or other reasonable remedy. The remedy offered will depend on the circumstances and the extent of the issue. We will not be responsible for complaints arising from misuse after cleaning, re-soiling, walking on damp carpet, failure to follow aftercare advice, or third-party interference.
Aftercare advice may be provided verbally or in writing, but it is the customer’s responsibility to follow it. Ventilation, drying time, and temporary restrictions on use are important to the final result. If you choose to place furniture back too early, use heating unsafely, or allow foot traffic before the surface is dry, any resulting marks or texture changes are not our responsibility.
9. Data, Privacy, and Communications
We will use the personal information you provide only for the purposes of arranging, delivering, and managing the service, handling payment, and dealing with service-related communication or record-keeping. We take reasonable steps to protect personal data and process it in line with applicable UK data protection requirements. Further privacy details may be provided separately where necessary.
Communications may be made by email, telephone, text message, or other reasonable means. By booking, you consent to being contacted about your appointment, quotation, payment, or service issues using the details you provide. You should ensure that your contact information remains up to date, especially if you need to receive timing updates or billing documents.
We may keep service records for a reasonable period for accounting, dispute resolution, insurance, and legal compliance purposes. These records may include booking details, payment history, photographs taken for work verification, and service notes. Any use of such records will be limited to legitimate business and legal purposes.
10. Governing Law and General Provisions
These terms and any dispute or claim arising from them are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction, except where consumer law provides otherwise. If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
No failure or delay by us in exercising any right under these terms shall operate as a waiver of that right. Any waiver must be agreed in writing. These terms form the entire agreement between the parties in relation to the service, except for any written quotation, invoice, or other document expressly incorporated into the contract.
By confirming a booking, you acknowledge that you have the authority to instruct the work, accept responsibility for the accuracy of the information supplied, and agree that these terms apply to the service provided under the name Carpet Cleaners Hackney. If a business customer engages the service, they confirm that they have authority to do so on behalf of the company or organisation.
